What GHK-Cu is

GHK is a naturally occurring tripeptide, glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine, first isolated from human plasma in the 1970s. It binds copper(II) with high affinity, and the copper complex, GHK-Cu, is the form used in most research. It is a small molecule by peptide standards (three amino acids) and is supplied as a blue lyophilised powder, the colour coming from the copper. How it is studied

GHK-Cu appears in four research areas. GHK-Cu is not a medicine and is not under pharmaceutical development in the way the metabolic peptides are; it is widely used as a cosmetic ingredient. Handling and storage

Store lyophilised vials cool, dry and away from light; freeze at -20°C for long storage. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water to a clear blue solution and refrigerate at 2 to 8°C. The important difference from the metabolic peptides: GHK-Cu's copper complex is sensitive to pH and to chelating agents, so it should not be mixed in the same solution as compounds or buffers that bind copper, and acetic water is not the right solvent for it. Sourcing GHK-Cu in the Philippines

Because it is inexpensive, GHK-Cu is less often counterfeited than the metabolic peptides, but under-filling and poor copper loading (a pale rather than blue powder) do occur. The certificate should name GHK-Cu and report purity; the powder and solution should be distinctly blue. The six-point checklist applies. Frequently asked questions

Why is the powder blue?

The copper(II) ion in the GHK-Cu complex. A white or pale powder sold as GHK-Cu is a reason to check the certificate.

50 mg or 100 mg?

The 100 mg vial is cheaper per milligram; the 50 mg vial suits shorter studies where an opened vial would otherwise sit for months.

How does it compare with Snap-8?
