What is Ipamorelin?

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide (Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2) developed by Novo Nordisk in the 1990s as a selective agonist of the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), the same receptor bound by ghrelin. Among the synthetic secretagogue peptides it is noted in the literature for its receptor selectivity relative to the earlier GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 compounds. It is supplied as a lyophilised research peptide in 5 mg and 10 mg vials.

How it is used in research

Ipamorelin appears in GHS-R1a receptor pharmacology, ghrelin-pathway signalling models, pituitary cell-culture work and gastrointestinal-motility models from its clinical-development history. It is not an approved medicine. It is most often ordered with CJC-1295 (no DAC), a GHRH analogue that acts on a different receptor, and the two are available pre-combined in the CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin blend.

Frequently asked questions

Ipamorelin or CJC-1295?

Different receptors: ipamorelin is a GHS-R1a (ghrelin-receptor) agonist; CJC-1295 is a GHRH-receptor analogue. Studies of the two pathways together use both, which is why the blend exists.

Ipamorelin or GHRP-2 / GHRP-6?

All three are GHS-R1a agonists. Ipamorelin is the more receptor-selective of the three in the published pharmacology; GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 are available on request separately.
