Both compounds were engineered from the GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) sequence rather than from GLP-1, which is what separates them from semaglutide-class compounds. Both carry a fatty-acid side chain that binds albumin and extends circulating time, which is why both are studied on a once-weekly cadence in the literature.
