What is it?
Bacteriostatic water is sterile, purified water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth in the reconstituted solution, which is why it is the standard diluent for lyophilised research peptides that will be sampled more than once after reconstitution. This format supplies it in a sealed 10 mL ampoule rather than a stoppered multi-dose vial.
Ampoule or vial?
An ampoule is opened once. Snap the top, draw what the reconstitution needs, and discard the remainder; there is no stopper to re-seal, so an opened ampoule should not be stored. The benzyl alcohol still protects the peptide solution once it is inside the peptide vial, so the 28-day working period applies to the reconstituted peptide, not to the opened ampoule. Choose the ampoule for one clean, guaranteed-sterile draw per reconstitution. Choose our multi-dose 3 mL and 10 mL vials if the laboratory draws diluent repeatedly over several weeks.
How it is used in research
Bacteriostatic water is used to reconstitute almost every peptide in our catalogue. It is not suitable for every compound: GHK-Cu and the KLOW blend should not be reconstituted with acidic diluents, and some hard-to-dissolve sequences call for acetic water instead. - Delivery: nationwide by tracked J&T courier. Orders paid by 12 noon, Monday to Saturday, ship the same day; later payments ship the next business day. After dispatch: Metro Manila 1 to 2 business days (or same-day Lalamove), Luzon provinces 2 to 4 business days, Visayas and Mindanao 5 to 7 business days. Full details in our shipping policy. Storage and handling
Store sealed ampoules at room temperature away from direct light. Open immediately before use; do not store an opened ampoule. Frequently asked questions
How much does one ampoule cover?
One 10 mL ampoule covers one reconstitution session. Most research vials take 1 to 3 mL of diluent, so plan one ampoule per vial reconstituted at the same time.
Can I keep the leftover?
No. Once snapped, an ampoule cannot be re-sealed and the remainder should be discarded. Laboratories that reconstitute several vials over a few weeks are better served by the multi-dose vial.
